Application Process and Evaluation
Grand Solutions has a two-phase application process
In phase 1, applicants submit a short Letter of Intent, outlining the project. Based on this, they will either receive an invitation to phase 2 or a rejection.
Phase 1: Letter of Intent
An outline of the project (approx. 6 pages, excl. appendices) must be submitted via e-grant in Innovation Fund Denmark’s official template including title and acronym, summary, idea and background, state of the art, expected impact, methods, main participants, and a budget estimate.
Proposals are first assessed administratively for compliance with format requirements, character limits, deadlines. Hereafter, the content is reviewed by a permanent Grand Solutions panel with international researchers and Danish experts.
Phase 2: Main Application
A comprehensive application must be submitted with a detailed project description, budget, and appendices (highlighting novelty, impact, value creation for Denmark)
It must include specific work packages, milestones, and key people and will be assessed by the Grand Solutions panel with input from from international experts. External evaluations may be included, and applicants have the opportunity to comment through a hearing process.
Scoring and Decision
Even if a project meets all the criteria, funding is not guaranteed, only the highest-scoring applicants are approved based on the quality of idea, impact and execution. The final decision rests on the panel’s assessment, input from external experts and any applicant responses.
