The Research Council of Norway (RCN) works to promote renewal and innovation in the Norwegian public sector, trade, and industry. It offers various funding instruments for SMEs in different sectors, for new products, services, and solutions that increase value creation and competitiveness.
The goal is to develop new knowledge and build research expertise that society or the business sector needs to address significant societal challenges. To apply, it is a prerequisite that there is project collaboration between research environments and relevant actors outside the research sector.
Who Can Apply for Support from the Research Council?

- Municipality, county municipality, or an entity in the public sector
- SME or a large company in the private sector
- Research organization
The project must be research-related and involve developing/improving a product, service, or production process, or building knowledge and implementing research-based innovation.
Individuals cannot apply.
