The Clean Hydrogen Partnership belongs to the Horizon Europe framework programme. As per its legal name, Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking, CHJU, is a public-private partnership that aims to strengthen and integrate EU scientific capacity, in order to accelerate the development and improvement of advanced clean hydrogen applications. The three members of the Joint Undertaking are the European Union, represented by the European Commission, the fuel cell and hydrogen industries represented by Hydrogen Europe and the research community represented by Hydrogen Europe Research.
Expected Deadline
The calls of the Clean Hydrogen JU program typically open in January with the application deadline falling in April-May.

Eligible Activities
CHJU covers different areas of research and innovation on key topics:
* Renewable hydrogen production
* Hydrogen storage and distribution
* Hydrogen end uses: transport applications
* Hydrogen end uses: clean heat & power
* Hydrogen valleys
* Strategic Research Challenge
* Cross-cutting issues (regulations, codes, standards, training, safety, social acceptance).
The programme supports activities from TRL 2 to TRL 8 based on project type (RIA, IA, & CSA), like other calls in the main Horizon Europe programme.
Eligible Applicants
Organisations or legal entities (universities, research institutes, industry, SMEs, NGOs) established in EU member states, Horizon Europe-associated countries and specified international research organisations.
Consortium needed. Most Clean Hydrogen Partnership funded projects are collaborative projects with at least 3 organisations from different EU Member States or Associated countries. Some topics, in line with the Clean Hydrogen JU Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), also need a consortium partner from Hydrogen Europe or Hydrogen Europe Research.
