Get up to € 4 million in Grants
The EIC Pathfinder programme goes beyond what is already known. Visionary thinking and research can lead towards powerful new technologies... Projects are typically visionary scientists and entrepreneurial researchers from universities, research organisations, start-ups, high-tech SMEs or industrial stakeholders interested in technological research and innovation. Research teams can apply for up to €3 or €4 million in grants.
Nordic Innovators is experienced in working with all these different types of clients and we help them to scope and develop their project ideas. We collaborate closely defining and matching their innovation projects to the right programme. We also help finding the right consortia match.
About EIC Pathfinder
The overall objective of the EIC Pathfinder for advanced research is to develop the scientific basis to underpin breakthrough technologies. It provides support for the earliest stages of scientific, technological or deep-tech research and development. EIC Pathfinder supports early-stage development of future technologies like activities at low Technology Readiness Levels 1-4 and up to proof of concept. Pathfinder projects can also receive additional funding for testing the innovation potential of their research outputs.
Pathfinder projects aim to build on new, cutting-edge directions in science and technology to disrupt a field / market or create new opportunities by realising innovative technological solutions through:
- EIC Pathfinder Open: For proposals in any field of science, technology or application without predefined thematic priorities. The overall budget for 2024 is €120 million.
- EIC Pathfinder Challenges: The 2024 call also supports proposals within a predefined thematic area that addresses specific objectives.
In 2024, €136 million has been allocated to tackle five challenges:
1. Solar-to-X devices for the decentralized prosumption of renewable fuels,
chemicals and materials as climate change mitigation pathway
2. Towards cement and concrete as a carbon sink
3. Nature inspired alternatives for food packaging and films for agriculture
4. Nanoelectronics for energy-efficient smart edge devices
5. Strengthening the sustainability and resilience of EU space infrastructure
Who can apply
Projects involving consortia of at least 3 legal entities like research organisations, universities , SMEs and industry from min. three different eligible countries. However, there are also opportunities for individual teams and small consortia (two partners), but only for Pathfinder Challenges.
