How Is a MUDP Application Evaluated?
The MUDP Board assesses applications based on four main criteria:
- Environmental and resource potential: The technology’s ability to deliver measurable improvements without negative side effects.
- Commercialisation and business potential: The likelihood of market uptake and export opportunities.
- Competences and execution: The consortium’s capacity to carry out the project, including risk management and a realistic implementation plan.
- Degree of innovation and technical quality: Level of innovation, relevance, and methodological soundness.
How the Application process Works
An MUDP application is submitted digitally through the programme’s online portal, after which an administrative screening and formal compliance check are carried out to ensure that all requirements are met.
The MUDP application is then evaluated by external experts, and based on their assessment, the Danish Environmental Protection Agency prepares a recommendation for the MUDP Board. The final funding decision is made by the Board.
If approved, a project contract and any partnership agreements are signed, allowing the project to begin. During the project period, continuous reporting is required, and funds are disbursed based on documented expenses.
Reporting and Payment
During the project period, participants must regularly report both technical progress and financial status through MUDP’s digital portal. Disbursement of MUDP grants is based on approved accounts and documentation of incurred expenses.
At the end of the project, a final report and evaluation form must be submitted, after which the project results are published in MUDP’s project overview.
Success Criteria and Expected Results
For the strategic period 2024–2027, the MUDP Board has set clear objectives for the programme’s overall impact. The goal is for 75% of all completed projects to achieve their expected results, and for at least half of the technologies to advance two TRL levels during the project period.
In addition, four innovation partnerships are to be established with at least 20 annual dissemination activities in the media or at conferences. Finally, the aim is for 10% of projects to have an international dimension, either through partnerships or activities beyond Denmark’s borders.
