We Can Help You Apply for MUDP
The Environmental Technology Development and Demonstration Programme (MUDP) supports Danish companies that develop, test, and demonstrate new environmental technologies that reduce environmental impact, promote the circular economy and create green export opportunities.
MUDP helps Denmark deliver on its climate and environmental goals by accelerating the development and deployment of technologies that reduce waste, emissions, and resource consumption — through close collaboration between businesses, research institutions, and public stakeholders.
MUDP opens for two application rounds each year, in spring and autumn.
What projects does MUDP support?
In 2025, MUDP has a budget of approx. DKK 135 million, of which DKK 10 million is earmarked for climate-adaptation projects. The funds are preliminarily allocated as follows: DKK 8 million for pre-projects and ETV (Environmental Technology Verification) projects, DKK 63.5 million for development, testing, and demonstration projects, and DKK 63.5 million for flagship projects.
Pre-projects: Targeted at SMEs looking to analyse and assess the potential of a project idea and clarify technical aspects prior to a full development project. A pre-project can help identify strengths, weaknesses, risks, and the resources needed to execute a full environmental technology project.
ETV projects: Aimed at technologies that are already developed and close to market, but require independent verification of performance. Both pre-projects and ETV projects are available to SMEs and are funded under the EU’s de minimis rules, with up to 70% support, capped at DKK 600,000.
Development, test, and demonstration projects: Cover technology development and experimental testing under real-world conditions. This is the largest funding category under MUDP. Typical grant requests range between DKK 1–4 million, but both smaller and larger projects may be considered.
Flagship projects: Full-scale demonstration of new environmental technologies that deliver environmental performance exceeding current Danish and EU standards. These projects must act as a showcase for Danish environmental technology and require an independent third-party evaluation. Grants may, in certain cases, be combined with already planned investments.
From idea to MUDP Funding
Succeed With Your Application
A successful MUDP project requires both strong innovation and clear documentation of environmental impact. Projects must be firmly anchored in Denmark, have realistic objectives and demonstrate both environmental and commercial potential.
Additionally, the application must follow MUDP’s official requirements for structure, budget, and environmental assessment as well as clearly show how the technology contributes to the green transition.
How and What is required?
Use MUDP's official website and application templates which are published for each call. Proposals must be submitted via the MUDP digital portal on virk.dk using MitID login.
Attach all required documents: The main application form, budget file with partner breakdown, environmental impact assessment, CVs of key personnel, and, if relevant, partnership declarations and support letters.
Missing or unclear documentation may result in rejection.

MUDP supports projects within environmental focus areas and one cross-cutting theme:
1. Circular economy and sustainable resource use
2. Water and wastewater
3. Air pollution and emissions
4. Soil contamination and hazardous substances
5. Biodiversity and nature
6. Climate adaptation and nature-based solutions
7. Cross-cutting theme: Data and digitalisation.
Evaluation and Funding
Applications are assessed on four main criteria to ensure the supported projects demonstrate strong environmental impact and commercial potential.
1. Environmental and resource potential
2. Commercialisation and business potential
3. Competences and execution capability
4. Degree of innovation and technical quality.
