Align Your Project
with EUDP Strategic Themes
All projects supported under EUDP are expected to contribute to these seven strategic themes. While the programme remains technology-neutral, proposals must clearly demonstrate how they relate to and advance one or more of the focus areas.

1. Green Electricity
· Scale up wind and solar power to replace fossil fuels and unsustainable biomass.
Focus on durability, recycling (e.g., turbine blades), improved wind data, and cost reductions for solar PV.
Ensure supply security in a fully renewable power system through new components, standards, and facilities.
2. Sustainable Biomass, Biogas and Pyrolysis
· Adapt conversion technologies to stricter sustainability requirements.*
Support biomethane production and new types of sustainable biomass.
Advance pyrolysis to produce biochar, enabling permanent carbon storage and reducing agricultural CO₂ emissions.
3. Energy Efficiency
· Reduce energy losses across transport, buildings, and industry.
Develop advanced building envelopes, pumps, valves, power electronics, and control systems.
Improve industrial heat pumps to reach higher temperatures and reduce infrastructure energy losses.
4. Power-to-X (PtX)
· Develop efficient, cost-effective hydrogen and green fuel plants.
Enable heavy transport and hard-to-electrify industries to decarbonise.
Improve integration of PtX with renewable energy production.
5. Heat and Heat Storage
· Replace oil and gas boilers with green heating solutions, including large-scale heat pumps.
Advance 4th-generation district heating with lower flow temperatures and cheaper infrastructure.
Develop high-temperature storage solutions (e.g., water ponds, rock, molten salt) that can also convert back into electricity.
6. Flexible Use of Electricity and Digitalisation
· Create intelligent, digital energy-consuming devices (e.g., smart heat pumps, EV charging).
Strengthen data-driven management of the grid using AI and machine learning.
Focus on data security while enabling predictive maintenance and efficient energy use.
7. Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS)
· Develop cost-effective capture and utilisation technologies, including for biogenic CO₂.
Support storage in Danish subsoil on land and offshore.
Integrate CCUS with PtX for green fuel production
