TRUSTQ Secures EuroQCI Funding for Quantum-Secure Communication Infrastructure

Our long-term clients, Celare Quantum Communications ApS (Celare) and Alea Quantum Technologies ApS (Alea), together with their consortium partners, have secured funding through the European Quantum Communication Infrastructure (EuroQCI) call under the Union Secure Connectivity Programme (IRIS²) in 2025 for the project TRUSTQ (Trusted and Certified Quantum Key Distribution for European Infrastructures).  
 
EuroQCI is a key EU initiative to build a Europe-wide quantum-secure communication infrastructure, combining fibre-based terrestrial networks with satellite-based connectivity. 

As quantum computing continues to advance, the need for quantum-secure communication technologies is becoming increasingly critical for Europe’s governments, industries and critical infrastructures. Widely used public-key cryptographic methods face growing risks from future quantum-enabled cyber threats, creating an urgent demand for trusted and interoperable quantum communication solutions. 

Building Certified Quantum-Secure Networks for Europe 

TRUSTQ directly addresses this challenge by advancing continuous-variable quantum key distribution towards a certified, deployment-ready system designed for secure integration into European telecom infrastructure. The platform will  integrate key hardware and software modules – including a quantum random number generator, digital signal processing, photonic transmitter and receiver subsystems, a key management system and software-defined networking control – within a compact, standardized and telecom-ready architecture. 

By strengthening Europe’s capabilities in quantum cybersecurity and secure digital infrastructure, TRUSTQ contributes directly to the objectives of the EU Secure Connectivity Programme and the broader EuroQCI initiative. The project also supports the development of a stronger European quantum technology value chain and reinforces Europe’s digital sovereignty.
