Surfact reduces medication and food waste
with monitoring technology
Surfact has developed the tracking device Emma, which ensures that medication and food are safely delivered all the way from production to the customer. Today, one-third of all medication and food is wasted due to challenges along the way, and Emma helps solve this problem. With the help of Nordic Innovators, Surfact received a significant grant from Innovasjon Norge.
who is Emma?
Emma is a small, battery-powered device made from recycled plastic from the sea, produced in Norway. In real time, it sends messages about changes in the environment, such as humidity, temperature, shocks and impacts, and hyperlocal location. With artificial intelligence and API integration, it is possible to monitor the cargo. This not only reduces waste but also builds trust with stakeholders who gain insight into the entire process up to the delivery.
from idea to reality
After pilot testing prototypes with the help of customer feedback, Surfact has since 2022 aimed to reduce medication and food waste, with the first solution on the cold chain monitoring market that offers real-time monitoring and a device with long-lasting battery life. With a circular business model that uses recyclable hardware and competitive pricing, Surfact has entered the market with significant advantages. With strong partners and loyal customers such as Apotek 1, Posten/Bring, McDonald's, and Havi, Surfact is a growing company with great international potential.
The road ahead
In the future, the European and American supermarket markets await, and the company aims to reach 100 million NOK in ARR by 2027. Surfact has demonstrated its ability to deliver groundbreaking solutions that not only meet but also exceed customer expectations.
