A New Disruptive Technology

Providing industrial grade coating, Seram Coatings was awarded the SME Instrument Phase 2 grant (Horizon 2020) and received EUR 1.9 million for their ThermaSiC project.

Seram Coatings aims to commercialise their new disruptive technology and enter both the EU market and the US for high performance ceramic coatings. Moreover, the ThermaSiC project aims to bring to market a Silicon Carbide coating where Seram Coating is the world's first to provide coating by thermal spraying. This gives unique chemical-physical properties and superior performance in corrosive and harsh environments at temperatures up to 1500 Celsius. It also increases lifetime while reducing weight and maintenance creating a market pull by end-users.

Based on a successful SME Instrument Phase 1 Feasibility study, the company only needs to overcome the last barriers before being able to successfully commercialize their solution. This will result in increased growth with estimated accumulated gross profit of more than € 482 million and create work for 250 full-time employees by the year 2022.
