- Spatial Sound Moves to Headphones
Imagine headphones that sound as real as natural sounds... you can hear where sounds are coming from and how far away things are! The fast-growing startup, IDUN audio is behind this innovative idea and is developing the first virtual- and augmented reality audio software for headsets.
"Our unique spatial audio engine makes it possible to create many sound sources around a listener wearing headphones. "The listener is free to move to explore the sound due to tracking sensors in the headphones. "Moreover, the sources can be placed in any acoustical space, from a small sound studio to a large concert hall,” says the founder and CEO of IDUN audio, Pauli Minnaar.
With this spatial audio software, people wearing headphones will experience that many daily situations will be improved, such as listening to music or using digital devices like mobile phones, computers, etc. Since the advanced embedded software uses very low processing power, it can also be built into wireless headphones.
Funding to Speed Up the Process
To accelerate and further develop the audio software ready to launch, IDUN audio received funding from the Danish Innobooster programme in December 2020. Two years later, we helped IDUN with their Eurostars application, which was successfully granted for enabling object-based, dynamic spatial audio in hearable devices.
Nordic Innovators is proud to have helped IDUN with successful applications and look forward to following IDUN audio’s further exiting journey with spatial audio in headsets that can recreate the natural perception of sound.
“It has been a great experience to work with Nordic Innovators. Their expertise in translating our ideas and plans into well-formulated funding applications, has been invaluable. They are a strong partner to have as a startup company.”, says Pauli Minnaar.
