A Cost-efficient AI-Powered
Football Tracking System
Next11 iBall won a Eurostars grant for their project that provides real-time data and insights to coaches on individual player level and team performance. The system includes a unique ball with a built-in sensor and player ID-tags (also with internal sensor) worn in a leg strap hidden under the sock.
During the match, the coach gets access to live aggregated data via an engaging and user-friendly app, high-precision data on team and individual players’ passing accuracy, speed, breaks and number of sprints. All this is aggregated into a fitness barometer that gives suggestions on substitutions to avoid injuries and strengthen the team. Moreover, players can benchmark themselves against other players on the platform.
The iBall project is an innovative solution that democratizes data-based analysis. Currently, it is only available to top professional teams. There is the hefty technical challenge of developing a ball with built-in sensors therefore, the prototype requires thorough testing before market launch.
"Nordic Innovators has been involved in the iBall’s project since the very beginning. They have advised us on how we could develop our business idea with key partners and funding opportunities. Nordic Innovators assisted us in the writing applications, including the Eurostars proposals. Our successful partnership was key for choosing Nordic Innovators over competitors and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with new proposals coming up."
