Eureka’s 2025 Quantum Technologies Call Opens New Frontiers
As quantum technologies shift from theoretical constructs to practical applications, the Eureka Network’s 2025 Call for Projects on Applied Quantum Technologies offers a timely opportunity for innovators. Launching on 6 May 2025, this initiative aims to support international R&D collaborations that push the boundaries of quantum computing, simulation, communication, and sensing.
Scope of the Call
The call covers a wide range of quantum technology fields, including but not limited to:
Quantum Computing: Developing devices that outperform classical computers to solve industry-relevant problems.
Quantum Simulation and Stack Levels: Creating special-purpose machines for applications in quantum chemistry, nuclear physics, material sciences, and more.
Quantum Communications and Cybersecurity: Advancing performance, integration, and industrialization of quantum communication systems.
Quantum Sensing and Metrology: Enhancing measurement precision and developing new sensing technologies.
Projects are encouraged to address challenges across industry, science, and society, with a focus on developing market-oriented products, processes, and services.
Participating Countries and Funding
The Call is supported by national funding bodies from the following countries:
* Austria
* Belgium (Flanders and Wallonia)
* Denmark
* Finland
* France
* Portugal
* Spain
* South Africa
* Türkiye
* Ukraine
Each country has allocated funding to support organisations collaborating on international R&D projects in applied quantum technologies. Funding details, including eligibility criteria and application procedures, are determined by the respective national funding bodies.
The funding conditions are favourable, and although each country sets their own funding rate and amount, e.g.:
France gives up to 80% funding to SMEs, provided as loan or reimbursable advance with a limit of €3 million.
Denmark gives up to 90% non-refundable grant for SMEs, with a maximum of €650,000.
See more funding details here.
Eligibility and Consortium Requirements
To be eligible for funding:
* The project consortium must include organisations from at least two of the participating countries.
* Each participating organisation must be a separate legal entity.
* No single organisation or country can be responsible for more than 70% of the project budget.
Projects are expected to start by March 2026 and can run for up to 36 months. Consortia are encouraged to include a mix of research partners, large industrial partners and SMEs to ensure both a high scientific level and a clear market perspective.
Strategic Importance
This call represents a unique opportunity for organisations to engage in cutting-edge quantum research with practical applications. By fostering international collaboration, the initiative aims to accelerate the development and commercialisation of quantum technologies — driving economic growth and addressing key societal challenges.
